Why VYVE is needed to support individuals

Mental health prevalence

Around 22.6% of UK adults report symptoms of anxiety or depression, reflecting widespread emotional wellbeing challenges across the population.

Around 1 in 4 UK adults experience a mental health problem each year.

Work-related illness and absence

Stress, depression, and anxiety account for the majority of work-related ill-health absences, contributing to millions of working days lost each year and highlighting how workplace pressures affect overall health.

Work-related stress, depression, and anxiety accounted for 17.1 million working days lost in the UK in 2022/23.

Sleep problems

Significant proportions of adults report sleep difficulties, which are strongly linked to poorer mental and physical health outcomes, including reduced recovery and increased risk of chronic conditions - making sleep a major daily wellbeing challenge.

1 in 3 UK adults report insomnia or poor sleep quality.

Physical inactivity

A large share of the population does not meet recommended physical activity levels, which is associated with increased risk of non-communicable diseases such as heart disease, diabetes, and depression.

63% of UK adults do not meet recommended physical activity guidelines.

Musculoskeletal issues

Musculoskeletal conditions (e.g., back pain and RSI) are common and frequently contribute to pain, reduced mobility, and absence from work, often occurring alongside or exacerbating mental strain.

Musculoskeletal conditions account for over 30 million lost working days annually in the UK.

Social isolation and loneliness

Many people experience loneliness at work and in their communities, a recognised risk factor for long-term health problems including cardiovascular issues and elevated stress responses.

Around 7% of UK adults report feeling lonely “often or always”.
